4 Day Learning Camp for School Students

The WYC Young Achievers Program is a 4 day Learning Camp designed to prepare school students to step up academically, culturally and socially.

The Program brings together students from diverse backgrounds staying at a university campus for four days and opens them up to immersive, collaborative and transformative experiences that anchors the direction of their future towards smarter and better beings. The students selected for the program get opportunities to : 
 

  • learn new skills and build their leadership quotient

  • gain valuable knowledge by directly interacting with industry experts

  • meet new people from different backgrounds

  • expand their horizons and explore themselves
     

The summer camp integrates a range of activities such as talks, workshops, focused group discussions, live projects, field visits, performances, team building activities and presentations in a fun and engaging format, rather than through long lectures.

Learn without limits

Pursue your interests and learn about career, leadership, public speaking, design thinking, business startup, societal challenges, etc. We dispense the classes with our unique rewarding system so that you can fully commit to your growth as a student, well-rounded individual, and engaged citizen.

Get an unceased experience

You will be with your fellow learners, two resident directors, and advisors who provide mentoring and support. The Program covers three meals a day and snacks during the evening “brain break”. You will enjoy sports and wellness activities in the morning “kick starters”.

Thrive outside the classroom

The Young Learners Program offers many engaging activities beyond the classroom to ensure you make the most out of your five days. You will have opportunities to engage with faculty, socialize with fellow students, go on field visits and enjoy fun excursions and activities

Submit Application

Once you fill up the registration form , you will receive an email from us with the application form containing three questions for you to answer. 

Selection 

If selected, you will receive the confirmation via email.
You can then pay the the program fee and confirm your enrollment.

After your enrollment has been confirmed, there will be a brief video interaction  with the program facilitator for basic introductions and getting your prepared for the program

Program Highlights

Young Achievers Program is a four day residential program that is divided into 4 categories apart from the activities that will take place everyday.

Soft Skill Development

Students will learn critical skill set of interpersonal people skills, social skills and communication skills starting from thinking, reading, writing, public speaking, leadership, time management, etc.

Leadership and Self Deception

Workshops, individual sessions and experiential learning will have powerful resonances not just for organizational leadership but in the student's personal life as well.

Design Thinking and Startup

Students will be taught Innovation & Design Thinking by experts with a very hands on approach to learning. Participants will be asked to come up with business solutions and start up ideas and pitch it to investors.

Social and Community Service

Through real life case studies, role plays and motivational talks students will be taught empathy and importance of community service. Participants will also be taken for field visit.

Extra Learnings

Sports & Wellness - Every morning students will be indulged in different sports and wellness activities including yoga and meditation.

Recreational Activities- Every evening in the "brain break" session, various curricular and recreational activities will be organized for the students for fun and entertainment along with new learnings and engagement.

Different themed dinner - Each night there will be different themes followed in terms of dressing, behaviour, etc. for widening the exposure of different world for the participants. The details will be disclosed closer to the Program.

 
 

Young Achiever's Journey  /  Program Schedule
 

Young Achievers Program is a four day residential program that is divided into 4 categories apart from the activities that will take place everyday.

Day 1

Orientation Ceremony

The participants will reach the location and be inducted to the program. They will be welcomed by the WYC team. They will be given their WYC kit and allotted rooms and given a campus tour.

Hobbyists and Craft Time

The participants will be exposed to different crafts and hobby activities like pottery, paper mashe, best out of waste, etc. to explore their creative side and will give them an opportunity to pick new meaningful hobbies.

Movie Night

The participants will attend a movie screening at the campus which will be meaningful and knowledgeable and at the same time fun and entertaining.

Soft Skill Development Workshop

The program begins with Soft skill training for the participants where they will be taught communication skills, inter personal skills, writing, speaking among other things through activities and exercises and on the spot debates, Model UN etc. The skills acquired in this session will help them throughout the Program.

Fun Breaks

Fun Break is a special segment where the participants after a long day of learning are made to do some fun activities. It will happen in the evening over snacks where participants will play fun games.

Day 2

Yoga and Meditation

The participants will attend the fitness and sports session where they will be made to do different fitness activities. They will do yoga followed by meditation for better concentration.

Unexplored Co-curriculars

Participants will attend various co-curricular activities which are emerging now amongst the youth like slam poetry, stand-up comedy, beat boxing, etc. The participants will get to learn, perform and explore their talents.

Ethnic Night

The participants will dress in ethnic dresses as per their culture and experience diversity in culture. The participant will be made to understand the value of culture in modernization.

Career Exploration and Guidance

The participants will have a special talk by career experts from different walks of life breaking the stereotype about career choices. Each participant will be given individual time to guide him/her in their career preference and resolve their confusions.

Fun Breaks

Fun Break is a special segment where the participants after a long day of learning are made to do some fun activities. It will happen in the evening over snacks where participants will play fun game.

Day 3

Zumba​ & Bokwa

The participants will attend the fitness and sports session where they will be made to do different fitness activities. They will do Zumba and Bokwa with music for fitness.

Tough Talk

After their experience in the field visit, the participants will attend a panel discussion called “The Tough Talk” consisting of experts from social and development sector. The participants will experience a talk like never before where they and the moderator will ask tough questions to common problems and challenge stereotypes.

Bon Fire Night

After a heavy day, the participants will have a fun and entertaining night with bon fire, karaoke and dance. It will be the social night that the participants can enjoy with their new friends and WYC family.

Social and Community Service

The participants will be taken for a field visit to a shelter home and will get to meet the under privileged children, understand the challenges faced by them. The participants will teach them, play with them, talk to them, etc. It will be a life changing experience for the participants.

Fun Break

Fun Break is a special segment where the participants after a long day of learning are made to do some fun activities. It will happen in the evening over snacks where participants will play fun games.

Day 4

Martial Arts

The participants will attend the fitness and sports session where they will be made to do different fitness activities. They will learn martial arts like Karate, Kick boxing, etc.

Startup Pitching

The participants will be given an opportunity to pitch their startup ideas to industry experts, VCs and investors who will actually chose 5 best ideas to mentor and possibly fund in the future.

Innovation and Design Thinking

The participants will be trained on Design Thinking and Innovation by experiential learning through TRIZ and ARIZ. During the workshop, participants will be given business problems to solve for through innovation and design thinking where they will come up with ground breaking startup ideas.

Closing Ceremony

After 4 days of immense learning, fun, entertainment, life long memories, new friendships, life changing realizations, the Program will come to an end with the closing ceremony. The participants will be felicitated for successfully completing the Program. There will be special awards given to the outstanding performers.

  • What is the Young Achievers Program?

    • It is a WYC certified programme where students are exposed to different disciplines and opportunities through experiential learning. The program integrates a range of activities such as lectures, workshops, focussed group discussions, live projects, performances and presentations.
       

  • What is the deadline for the submission of the registration?

    • The deadline for the registration is November 30, 2017.
       

  • What are the dates and the location for the programme?

Dates: January 5 – 8, 2018

Location: Delhi
 

  • What are the charges for the Young Achievers Programme?​

    • A course fee of Rs 17,550/- has to be paid by the selected students. This is non-refundable, however need-based scholarships are available.
       

  • What do the fees include?

    • The fees include tuition, extra-curricular activities, accommodation, basic medical attention, wholesome meals, study material required for the classes and access to all facilities such as sports complex.

    • The fees do not include: Any additional snacks/beverages the student may want. Any items for personal use that the student may need to purchase. Transport between Delhi and their residence. Expenses for specialised medical attention/hospital services.
       

  • Will my travel and related costs be covered by WYC?

    • WYC will not provide with travel and other related reimbursements. All travel and related expenses will have to be borne by the student. 
       

  • Is the location safe for students?

    • Yes. It is committed to creating a safe and tolerant location for its students. The security contract has been given to G4S security agency. CCTV surveillance will be an integral part of effective monitoring.
       

  • What is the schedule?

    • The exact schedule will be released and sent closer to the programme. The participants day will start in the morning with sports and fitness, followed by sessions by eminent speakers from until lunch. There will be an afternoon workshops, followed by evening snacks at "fun break”. Post that there will be recreation activities and different themed cultural nights.
       

  • Who are the advisors?

    • The advisors are WYC’s finest Change Leaders, carefully chosen after a rigorous selection process. They have been trained to take care of and to work with high school students.
       

  • Who is the faculty?

    • The faculty members are some of the established personalities in their field of expertise imparting only the best.
       

  • What are the criteria for selection for the Young Achievers Programme?

    • A holistic evaluation is done for selection. The evaluation is based upon the application form, academic grades and extra-curricular activities.
       

  • How will the candidates be notified about their admissions decision?

    • Candidates will be notified about the admission decision via the registered email.
       

  • Do we get a certificate for the Young Achievers Programme?

    • Yes, students will be given a certificate on successful completion of the programme.
       

  • Is it a residential programme? Can I attend it only during the day?

    • Yes, it is a four-day residential programme. Students may not leave the campus during the programme; students are required to stay on campus for the entire duration.
       

  • Where will the students live?

    • The students will stay in double occupancy rooms separate boys’ and girls’ hostels on campus – the rooms will be assigned by Young Leaders Programme administration and cannot be changed.
       

  • Can parents visit?

    • Parents are welcome to visit the campus while dropping the students off. Parents are also invited to attend the Presentation Evening on the last day (more details will be provided closer to the programme). However, they may not visit the campus during the programme.
       

  • Can I arrive late and/or leave early from the programme?

    • No, students are expected to be there for the full duration of the programme. Late arrival or early departure from the programme will lead to the student being dismissed from the programme.
       

  • Can I bring my laptop?

    • Laptops are not necessary to attend the classes or the programme. However, students may bring may bring their laptops at their own discretion. Not following rules with regard to electronics will lead to the gadgets being confiscated for the entire duration of the programme. Young Achievers Programme does not take responsibility for any of the students’ belongings, including money.
       

  • Are phones allowed?

    • Students may bring their mobile phones to use in specified times. Not following rules with regard to electronics will lead to the gadgets being confiscated for the entire duration of the programme.   • Is it possible to get personalised meals in the dining halls in case of certain dietary restrictions?

    • The food served at the programme will cater to vegetarian and non-vegetarian students. Please contact us to let us know of any restrictions you may have, it can be discussed on case to case basis.
       

  • How much money should I carry with me?

    • Young Achievers Programme does not take responsibility for any of the students’ belongings, including money. If students want to purchase small eatables from eateries or personal use items, they may carry money accordingly.
